Here is the video of tom petty and the heartbreakers performing refugee at the live aid concert. tom petty has always reminded us of someone who was heavily influenced by bob dylan. He seems to sing with the same sort of frasing and inflection that dylan uses only petty took it up one notch on the rock and roll scale. Nevertheless, refugee was one of the bands greatest hits. Tom Petty was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. He became interested in rock and roll music at age 10 when he met Elvis Presley. In the summer of 1961, his uncle was working on the set of Presley’s film Follow That Dream in nearby Ocala, Florida and invited Petty to come down and watch the shoot, He instantly became a Presley fan and soon obtained a box of Elvis 45s. In a 2006 interview on the National Public Radio program Fresh Air, Petty said that he knew he wanted to be in a band the moment he saw The Beatles on The Sullivan Show. One of his first guitar teachers was Don Felder, a fellow Gainesville resident, who would later join the Eagles.

we put up music collections all the time and this one is unusual in the fact that it presents some classic rockers that you dont often see in music compilations. there is some rare performance footage in this video that is really fun to watch. the songs are certainly all memorable and the performers were at certain stages in their careers where their looks were wild and free. yes the seventies was a great decade for some great rock riffs and these guys look kind of like they are in some kind of a trance as they perform….either that or being that it was the seventies they probably were pretty stoned.

well we have had before and after picture montages before but we have not seen many of the photos in this compilation. this video is entitled “when celebrities were kids” and these type of montage videos just seem to fascinate us and keep you staring at the screen. we think the fascination stems from the fact that as we look at their childhood photos we can see that they were such a far cry from what they have become today and we just look at them in wondered amazement.

The Spencer Davis Group was a 1960s British beat group from England. It was formed by Spencer Davis with Steve Winwood and also featured stevies brother Muff Winwood. Their most well known songs were”Gimme Some Loving” and “I’m a Man”.
Winwood quit the band in 1967, so that he could form Traffic before joining a band called Blind Faith, then he became a soloist. After recording a few more singles the Spencer Davis group broke up in 1968. Ever seen david letterman kiss ass big time? ever seen oprah kiss ass big time? well heres your chance to see dave with his head so far up oprahs ass that he is only outdone by how far oprah has her head up daves ass. talk about a couple of phoney celebrity schmoozers. it is terribly out of character for both of these ego maniacs to be so eerily polite to each other. this segments drips with unbelievable cordialness dished up by letterman and back court returns by winfrey. who the hell are they both kidding…certainly not the audience. letterman makes jokes about winfrey for sixteen years and then oprah says….why does everbody keep saying we are fueding…and letterman says i have been calling you for sixteen years to come on my show but you never took my calls so i thought we were fueding in light of what has been going on for sixteen years.,,, and oprah says again…there is no fued between us. its just a fun clip to watch to see these two be so out of character that it is just plain pathetic.
