Player was popular during the of the 1970s stadium rock era. They developed a distinctive and melodic rock style. Their only number one hit, “Baby Come Back”, rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978 and was also a hit in other countries. Their follow up single “This Time I’m In It For Love” only made it to No. 10 that year. Player was named Billboard’s Best New Singles Artist of 1978.
